Forrest L. "Champ" Jones
Forrest L. "Champ" Jones (1939-2007) was a life-long resident and member of a
pioneer Rio Grande Valley family, being a fourth generation resident of Donna, Texas.
Champ attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, graduated in 1962 with a
Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting and obtained his J.D.
Degree in 1965. He practiced law in the Mid-Valley for more than forty (40) years prior
to his death.
Champ received the "Young Lawyer of the Year" award sponsored by the Texas Young
Lawyers Association in 1972. He was president of the Hidalgo County Bar Association
in 1978-79 and was a member of the Hidalgo County Bar and Texas Bar Associations,
as well as the Texas Bar Foundation. Champ represented the City of Donna as City
Attorney in the 1970s and served as Chairman of the Board of Alamo Bank of Texas
and Tan U.S. Sales.
Champ was a past president of both the Donna Rotary Club and the Donna Chamber of
Commerce. He avidly supported Little League and the Boy Scouts of America. He was
a member of the Board of Directors of Su Casa de Esperanza, Inc., and the Weslaco
Bicultural Museum, Inc.
His honesty, fairness and dedication to his clients were the hallmarks of his practice and
continue to be the guiding principles of the Firm.
